Peeling lacquer/top coat around door handle - 21 plate Scala

Featured Replies

I have just noticed today some lacquer/top coat peeling around the driver-side rear door handle, both on the top of the handle and particularly bad underneath where it is brittle to touch. Has anyone seen this before? I've searched the forum but couldn't find much; could this be a sign of a poor paint repair?

It's a 21 plate Skoda Scala (close to 5 years since first registration). I'm the second owner and bought as Skoda Approved Used. Presumably something like this wouldn't be covered by the paint corrosion warranty. What options do I have to stop it getting worse?!

Thanks in advance.

Your paint warranty is 3 years. The paint will need tested to see if it is Factory or some repair. But still not covered under the warranty. I suspect a poor job done by a bodyshop. I was a spray painter & used to do Warranty corrections to paint on vehicles. ... Plenty threads with a simple keyword search.

Looks as painted since it was done at the factory.
