Spyders over Brembo 4pots?

I am sure I have seen a post where someone fitted wheel spaces and retained the standard Spyders.

Is this a fact, can it be done and if so what size wheel spacer would I require.

I will upgrade the wheels to 18 inch at some point, but that will be further down the line if possible.
