I've found that my old iPod nano isn't supported via the infotainment head unit. Probably obsolete no doubt as it ran on Bluetooth 4.0, and doesn't want to work via USB either.

I've searched in the Skoda manual for what the minimum Bluetooth acceptability criteria is for media devices, but can't seem to find anything. Also checked in the Search facility on here too but nothing obvious leapt out either.

It transpires that most players appear to be uni-directional so boasting v5.2 makes no difference as they wont connect to a vehicle system. I've located one, on a very short list, which should connect (multi-directional) but is only Bluetooth v4.1.

Can anyone help me with the information I need please?

Thought I'd update this thread with some new, but unfortunately, disappointing information.

I've just taken delivery of a Bluetooth v4.1 MP3 player with high hopes this would solve my dilemma. Head unit picks the device up, device picks the head unit up. But they fail to pair (either way), with the error message "Incorrect PIN or Passkey"

A Google search reveals this appears to be a relatively common connectivity issue and provided several device resets and hacks which should resolve the fault. Unfortunately none of them did.

Looks like I'll have to suffer in silence.

Just a thought...

I wonder if there is a limit on the number of concurrent bluetooth device connections that car can support. If there is and, for example, you have your phone connected it may see the media player but not be able to connect to it.

I mention this because I spent ages trying to get my My NextBase dashcam to connect to the app whilst in the car. Eventually, I worked out that It does connect fine, provided I disconnect from CarPlay 🙄

There's coding available so that you can code your infotainment to recognise 2 phones at the same time, perhaps that would help with this issue too?
