Exhaust mounting question

Featured Replies

Noticed my new exhaust (three weeks old at least) has a litle rattle start yesterday

and today is was a big ratle

had a look under the car and the second to last mounting had come off

the one next to the rear passenger wheel

it is just a bolt through a bracket through the rubber mount but no nut on the other end

fitted a new washer and two nuts (hoping to lock it on) and the rattle has gone

Is this mounting normal

ive never noticed a rubber mount bolted on i thought they normally hooked on

cause you cant bolt it up tight beeing rubber wont it just keep coming off ?

What exhaust is it?

Its the mounting up to the car wich came off

i thought they would be the same on all exhausts using the standard mounting points

the exhaust itself is just a rod that goes through the rubber part and had a hook on it to stop it sliding off

might have to dig the digital camera out tomorrow

The standard hangers bolt upto the car using two or three 13mm bolts depending on which mount it is.

Sounds like everything is as it should be

it was a 13mm nut i put back on

although its was the mounting between the one in the pictures and the one the backbox would hang off

just hope it doesnt come off again
