Just want to say hello to everyone before I do my first post "HELLO EVERYONE"

Ok I have had my Fabia Vrs now for just over a year and everything was going fine - however I bought one of those quick fit chips from fleebay which seemed to work for a while - It then produced an engine light error - removed device - on taking to my local Skoda Dealer they ran diagnostics and said that it was a fuel error and reset. I gave it a rest for a while but decided to give it another go, you guessed it - within 100 miles light is on again!!

So now I have bought a Vag Com cable and downloaded software on to my laptop and willing to go on a learning curve, I previously had an Audi A4 wherby the Diagnostic Port was behind the rear ashtray - went to look there on my Fabia and it aint there -

Silly Question 1. Where is the Diag Port located on Fab VRs?

Silly Question 2. Once located and tested I assume I can clear the error using shareware version of Ross-tech?

Silly Question 3. Do I need the full version of software to clear errors?

Thanks in advance from a newbie

PS In addition I have bought a KWP2000 to try an prog the chip myself so expect to hear more cries for help and advice - If anyone wants the old chip they are welcome for the cost of postage

Ok silly question 1 answered myself - after searching the car internally I opened the little cooler chocy bar compartment and wodered if that came all the way out - hey presto there it is - so now for silly question 2 and 3

i think you can clear the codes with the downloaded software , i know my mate borrowed my lead and cleared a code on his Leon Cupra R with just the downloaded freeware software , but you cant access a lot of modules without the full version , oh yes and welcome to the forum

Yeah the shareware version will let you run a full error scan and clear error codes I believe. The full version allows you to look at the blocks and change the codings :D

Chris

Correct. The Shareware verisons will allow you to scan and clear codes. You cannot do an autoscan. You must go module by module to find and clear the codes. You can see the limitations of the shareware vs the full installation by looking here:
