Starting problems

Featured Replies

Hello everybody!

Yesterday morning I unlocked the car with the remote as usual, then on turning the the key to the starting position, the car went into " black". No response at all!

Several tries later, with my spare key as well, I locked the car again, reopened it, and the car then behaved as normal and started happily. No more problems the rest of the day, but same **** this morning. Lock/unlock seems to restore normality. My car is a Octavia II 2005 1,9 TDI pd

Anybody experienced this?

sounds like immobaliser not being disabled by the remote

The remote has nothing to do with the immobilizer, and if that does come into play it will run, then cut out.

Cant say ive heard of this one.

Thank`s for the quick replies!

Same thing happened this morning, the remote did´nt work from inside the car, had to open/close the door, lock/unlock, then all back to normal. The car is going to the dealer next week, I`ll keep you informed about their findings.

loose battery connection?

Probably not since all is normal when my "special procedure" is applied

Update on this matter:

Dealer will fit a new computer in the steering column, hope this will do the trick.

I`ll be back with a report when it`s done

I had a similar problem with my 2007 1.9 TDI Octavia. I found that by opening and closing the drivers door things appeared to work as normal.

I took it to the Skoda dealer who found that a fuse was not located correctly. The problem has not occured since.

yes i have on my 2005 octavia 2.0 tdi pd, I think it had something to do with my immobaliser getting wet due to the rear wash pipe coming apart and spraying it. Main dealer put new connections on the gateway, however they had the car for 5 days before working on it, time enough for the immobaliser to dry out me thinks. They did say it was a mystery to them why the car had behaved strangely
