1.9TDi engine

Featured Replies

Is this the same engine as is in the old octavia and in the fabia??

Also is it easy to get the bHP back up to around the 130 mark with this engine?

New Octy is the 1.9PD engine and is 105 BHP. It is siginifcantly changed from the 90, 110 and 130 hp engines fited to the old octavia.

I had a mk1 110hp and my Mk2 feels quicker and is definatly smoother, quieter and more economical.

I believe this engine is highly tuable and can be remapped tp produce 140-150 hp.

it's the 105 isn't it so more like the PD100 than the 130

The 90 and 110 engines arent PD engines, the 130 is so there is a difference between them.

IIRC the 105PD engine is more like a detuned 130PD engine, using the larger turbo etc than the older 100PD. The 105 also uses the large full front mounted intercooler.

IIRC the 105 1.9 PD TDI is tuneable to almost 160bhp! Not sure who does that particular re-map though.

ohh nice :D sounds liek the 105 is a good buy then

The 140 2.0 TDI is a huge improvement again over the 105 1.9 though. Even smoother, quieter and a lot more responsive and free revving than the 1.9.

thats what i was thinking

My dad has a 1.9 PD TDi 105 in his new Golf, he's not impressed with the pull or the noise it makes. He regrets not getting the 140 and he doesn't exactly drive enthusiatically.

I found a PD105 is a lot more responsive than the old TDI 110.

The 110 drives in a prehaps sportier fashion, but the PD105 has more pull.

THe question you have to ask yourself re the 2.0PD140 vs 1.9PD105 is how much is the price difference. If you are going to remap a 105 insurance will go up as well as the costs. I'd also guess 2.0 models get better brakes etc.

As a run around i am sure the PD105 is fine, and it's also a v capable motorway cruiser from the ones i have had as hire cars.
