vibration at 70.

Featured Replies

Hi,

thanks for the help with the recent cooling problem, it's all sorted, tried and tested now.

My wife now reports a vibration at 70mph, it clears at 80. Normally i would put this down to wheel balance, however in the last 5-6k miles i've had new front tyres and all wheels balanced and the tracking checked/adjusted at the place where 'nobody does it better than their fitters'.

Fronts are Pirelli p3000 and rears Michelin XSE energy, all 165/70-13.

Just really asking if theres anything peculiar to this car,'P' regd. Felicia 1.6i, that may show up as a vibration, and while i'm on, how about the brakes, any recommendationd for disc/pads, bearing in mind it's used quite normally, brembo's not necessary;), maybe it's more to do with my driving LHM Citroens, which have phenominal braking!

Cheers Urco.

Thanks for the replies, yes she probably is getting good vibrations now, since she bogged off 34 days ago, and took the Skoda and kids with her... still life goes on, and thinking positively, theres no low-kerb outside her new gaff, so she probably had to drop it off the kerb a few times since everyone seems to park on the footpath.

Will check the tyres and driveshafts for wear, it could well be an outer d/shaft bearing, seem to remember mention of a noise when on full lock at low-speed, when i bought it it had a lump on one front tyre that was so big the steering wheel wobled like the wheelnuts weren't fitted!!

If my wife had a vibration when she was 70 I'd be well chuffed!

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Does sound like wheel balance, may have had a knock or even a wheel weight come off.

could also be the tyres :'( a while back i got a rumbling at 60-80kph where the steeing shook. Back to garage as the tryes where new. (Michelin btw) no fault all ballanced.

However the fault continued until I was changing the oil and took a wheel off to get to the drain plug. Voila ONE VERY NOT ROUND TYRE. Load of garbage was a dodgy tyre, sure it ballanced but not being round!! never touching that brand again.

Maybe drive shafts? I've not had it on a Felicia but could the garage have jacked under a drive shaft and bent one?

Make sure there isn't excessive play in any of the suspension joints - track rod ends in particular.

The garage should spot this....
