Fabia Vrs Induction Kit

Featured Replies

Hey there, what kind of induction kits are suitable for the fabia vrs? Do you get a good induction note from the kit? Thanks Dave

Dave

Induction kits aren't normally fitted to the Fabia vRS, the most common upgrade in that area is the PD160 air intake and a panel filter.

the only thing that is really recommended on here is the Seat Ibiza PD160 intake pipe , with an aftermarket air filter in the standard air box , a separate air filter like a KN induction kit messes up a sensor iirc and doesn't work to well

Hi

Induction kits usually pick up warm air from the uderbonnet area and will reduce your engines power. The PD160 intake and panel filter seem to be the way to go from comments read on here. I think it is regarded as an essential mod if you are remapping, but dont know if it would benefit a standard car.

Chris

well ive got a pipercross induction kit on mine and it sounds awesome!:D

you can hear it sucking air as the turbo spools up finishing with a tishhh sound when you leave off the accelarator. as i like that sort of thing ive taken the padding off from under the bonnet and its a lot louder now. it also gives the engine a deeper sound and takes the edge off the dagger dagger sound that the diesel engine gives.

as for heat soak ive noticed no drop in performance at all and i was using the pd160 intake before the induction kit. i have got a good air feed though.

Having heard Daz's I have to agree, it sounds excellent and certainly no difference in performance :)

Thanks guys, was considering gettin a bmc cda i have one fitted to my current car so when i get my fabia i reckon i will get a bmc cda suitable for it. Has anyone had any trouble with their fabia after fitting an induction kit? Thanks Dave

anyone?

Enough people above have told you that they don't tend to fit induction kits to Fabia vRS' as they suffer from heatsoak - Perhaps that answers your question.

Yeah, but you wouldn't get heatsoak with a BMC as its in a carbon enclosure. Similar to a Viper, but a lot cheaper. If you're removing the airbox, is shouldn't cause any problems, and it has a fairly direct root for the cold air feed to the front grill. Check the aperture sizes and go for it if it'll fit!

Just looked and I see the kits you mean now - only listed for SEAT 110 hp though as far as I could see.

Good review then

I've got mine - just need the car to turn up to fit it to!

The tub's still quite audible with a panel filter and pd160 intake hose!!

Oliverreed - yours is a Viper kit though, so slightly quieter than the standard open cone filter.

:)

Surely a Viper should hisssss more?

the only reason i can hear mine is because its not enclosed.

i new i would get this noise and wasnt bothered about the heat soak. as it turns out its not noticable anyway, even with the hot weather we have had.

i have noticed a better top end speed with the kit also.:)

No... you're getting confused with

Heard one of the pipercross kits last week, it sounded mental!! Must admit I am tempted as my strut brace is refusing to come off making cleaning my green filter a real pain in the a**e. How much of a problem is the MAF sensor with them?

There shouldn't be any problem aslong as there not over-oiled.

Try and get a 'dry-flow' filter.

I agree completely, my mates KN kit messed his vRS up a bit, ended up just doing PD160 intake and put his standard airbox in, however i suppose it could have just been bad luck.

I personally have a K&N filter plus pd160 intake. Also I can clean it without having to take the strut brace off, which is a bonus to say the least.

I always find it funny when people go on about the bolt on air filters sucking in warm air and getting heat soak. This is correct for n/a cars. But with turbocharged cars, it doesnt make any difference because the air is drawn through a very hot compressor housing in the turbo and is heated to the same temp whether from a standard airbox or a bolt on air filter. Its then shoved through the intercooler and goes into the engine. No difference.

I liked my K&N Gen II bolt on my FRS as that sounded like a banshee when the turbo spooled up and really helped the engine breath. Though the turbo is much much bigger on the FRS and once tuned it gave my FRS an extra 14bhp!

A correctly fitted bolt on air fiter will work much better than a panel filter as it can physically flow more air into the engine as it has a larger surface area. The only down side that I can see is that it would need a custom map to make it run at its best.

I went down the route of the pd plus panel filter as its the cheapest and I try to keep the car looking as original as possible. I have not ruled out the fitment of a bolt on filter at a later date if I get a fmic!!!:D

Star performance used one of the said BMC things on their car

One of the major potential problems with the induction kit type filters is the way they condition the air stream across the MAF sensor. If the MAF sensor is on the neck of the airbox, it has been calibrated to give a specific output for a given airflow condition. Replacing the airbox changes the airflow condition, so may need the MAF recalibrating. Sometimes the car may richen up a little, hence a percieved performance boost? It may similarly lean out.

As for warm air getting in, the warmer it starts, the warmer it stays.

Anyone done a dyno comparison of a cone kit vs PD 160 and checked AFR while running?
