Air filters

Featured Replies

So, given that a nice clean air filter is a good thing performance/efficency wise, is a K&N or similar worth it? Alternatively what's the consensus on cleaning (With a brush or compressed air or whatever...) and/or replacing a 'standard' type filter on a regular basis?

There are loads of posts about air filters here so try using Search.

My take on it is replace the standard one more frequently, but it's totally down to personal preference.

Having done the 1st suggestion, I think I tend to agree with the 2nd comment...:D

At, say,

Just change them myself, as you said not expensive and they are still only £15 a pop from the dealer.

Skoda said every 40k on my car, I would say more like every 10k personally.

i dont think that fitting a k&n filter(panel or induction kit) is worth it personally, or any other make! if you time your car 0-60 with the standard filter, then fit the fancy filter with 'a garanteed extra 500bhp' or whatever other outrages claims they put with them, then measure the 0-60 time of your car again. you'll find it makes approximatelu 0.0 seconds difference over standard if you are lucky, they can also lead to a decline in performance due to higher induction temperatures
