I am looking at getting a sat nav unit, I have read the various back threads on here reccomending the nuvi 350 etc. My requirements are that the unit should not only warn of speed cameras etc but I would prefer if it would also tell me the speed limit of the road I am on at any given time, (How many times have we been on a nice duel carriageway, seen a scamera and not known if the limit is 30, 40,50, or 60?) The only unit I can find in a reasonable price bracket that advertises this feature is the Tom Tom 510. As anyone got this unit and do you reccomend it, are there other units with this feature that are better/cheaper TIA:thumbup:

I have the TomTom700, and totally recommend it...

I can only imagine the 510 to better the 700.

Can't find any review that says it shows speed limit on any particular road, only advisory limits and limits at camera locations. Also European mapping is extra but thanks for the suggestion:O

I was looking at the Naviman range in Argos and Tom Tom 510 along with the RDS/Traffic pack add ons - any good at all, and is the RDS add on worth it ?

TT GO with limit and camera POIs on. Pick it up for WELL under £200 and they are absolutely fantastic.

I use an Orange SPV M3100, bluetooth reciever, Tom Tom 5 and speed camera POI's loaded on. Works well for me, but i wanted an all in one Phone/PDA/Sat Nav.

You can get a PDA with GPS Reciever on eBay quite cheap.

The 510 does show speed limts, where it's aware of them. (not everywhere!). The limit display is in small red letters in the bottom corner, so it's not exactly a huge reminder.

Otherwise, it's an excellent piece of kit.

Cheers chaps I have now orderd a go 510, according to the blurb it can warn you if you exceed the limit on any given road, we will see when it arrives. will probably get well and truly on my t1ts if its like a seat belt warning but with all the scamera vans about and very few posted limits....., For instance a nice wide road near our house was dropped from a 40 to a 30 limit, 30 signs appeared and all was well. After about 6 months the strap onto lampost small 30 signs dissapeared and the large sign at the start of the zone was blanked over :eek: Guess what its a favorit spot for PC David Bailey!
