Usually these code scanners work as advertised, but keep in mind that a fault code usually needs further investigations like checking meas. blocks (live data) and basic settings or output tests. Also we've seen cases where the read fault codes only shows the fault code (location) not the fault type.

im currently getting a code repeating and instead of going to the garage to clear it id like to do it myself, would this do the job?

You should ask the manufacturer about that. :)
