Car been in today to sort out the squeak from the drivers seat. They had already got a new lumbar mechanism and have replaced the old one and good news squeak has gone:thumbup:

However the top of the seat where the headrest fits into the two plastic things does not look right. It is as if the two plastic circular bits that the headreast slots into have been pushed in too far and is therefore distorting the top of the seat, also the headrest is very stiff to move up and down. I showed the workshop manager and he agreed that it didn't seem right so i have booked the car in again for a few weeks time as they have no loan cars next week and i am on holiday the week after, but i am wondering if there is anything i can do myself to try and fix the problem???

Also since i picked the car up i have noticed a burning smell form the engine bay area. The garage have done a few miles in the car but no more than 5 or six as i asked them to check to make sure the car was boosting ok due to me losing boost altogether a couple of times in the last month( turn engine off and on and everything is ok??????)

Now i dont think there is anything wrong with the clutch as there is no slipping at all but the smell does seem to come from that end of the engine???

Any ideas?? I have read something about the clutch in the air con compressor burning out?? any checks i can do to see if it is that??

Yes i know, i just thought (maybe foolishly:O ) it might be worth the dealer looking at it.

It did it a few times about ten months ago then nothing til a couple of weeks ago and it did it twice in a week. One thing though, for a long period of time i was regularly resetting my throttle body however i have got out of the habit of doing it now so i wonder if that is why it has started again. I have had vag-com on it and no fault codes have been found.

Anyway is there an easy way to get the two black plastic things that the headrests go into, off????????? or adjust them so they dont sit so deep into the top of the seat????

Also have no reall burning smell today as yesterday so i am happy about that at least.
