Steaming up in the rain?

Featured Replies

Ours smells damp. How do you go about fixing the problem if it does leak?

Took ours to the dealers, fixed under warrenty

What did they actually do though as our fabia is 2001 so is a bit past its warranty ;)

is there a DIY fix?

Mine has been steaming up terribly since i got it. as soon as i get in the car it's steamed up bad.

I usually try and stick the re-circulation button on for a while and wait 2-3mins before setting off. air-con can help sometimes... but i generally find on a morning that hot air clears it better.

my passenger side seems to clear very quickly compared to the drivers side, so its booked in for dealers to have a gander on tuesday (as well as my rattling gear box)

Had my vRS from new on a 52 plate and its always steamed up really quickly when its raining but flick the air con on and it goes just as quick. I thought this was normal and have never really had any reason to think otherwise......till now....... Hmmm?

Hmm, funnily enough my dad's (1997) Toyota Avensis is exactly the same- need AC to clear the screen.

it really annoys me as all 4 other cars in the family have no AC and can clear their windows no bother. I find it a bit wasteful having the AC on all the time with regards to fuel consumption (apart from a weekly blast for 1/2 an hr to keep the seals wet...)

Me too, smells like dampness, and the windows are always wet on the inside of mine.

Mine has always done this , as stated AC on for a few mins is the only way to get rid of it , my car isnt damp smelling and has no leaks.

Mine only started to do it after I had a front footwell leak, which was sorted. But the fogging remained.

I presumed that it would be some moisture still in the car but this was over a month ago and it still does it! Its not a problem as A/C sorts it and there are no visible leaks but I need to really give it a good checking.

I also noticed that if Im washing the car, as soon as water hits it, the windows mist up! Might have to have a proper inspection when I get some time.

Mine does that too , theres definately no leaks tho! Im assuming its the difference in temperature of the hot water against the slightly colder glass?
