PMR/CB Radio Installation

Featured Replies

Hi,

I hope this is the right place to post this, sorry if it's not.....

I've got a Kenwood PMR radio to fit into my Octavia II, but I can't decide where the best place to install it is- has anyone else fitted one?

This is the radio I have to install Kenwood TK-8160

I'm looking at fitting it myself, but as I said I can't decide on the best place to install it.

It would be useful if I could see the display of the radio from the drivers seat, as the display tells me who is calling, but it is not a major thing.

If someone could give me some pointers I would be very grateful.

Has anyone run power directly from the car battery into the cabin of the car? Is there an easy route through? The power cable does have in-line fuses, so it doesn't need to go via the fuse box.

One last question- I need to run the aerial cable from the boot to the front (where the radio will be) is there an easy route through for that too? at the minute I have run the cable down the side of the rear seat & under the rear mat.

Currently I have the radio pushed down the side of the passenger seat and centre console & the power comes off the battery, out the top of the bonnet, then in the passenger door, as a temporary solution to get it up and running.

Thanks to anyone who can help :)
