heated seats problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I purchased my new Fabia Elegance Estate 1.9 TDI 2 months ago, goes great but since driving it have developed ( don't laugh ) a sore backside at the top of the crack of my backside. Couldn't figure out what was causing it but 2 weeks ago was reaching across to the front passenger door and happened to put my hand down on the passenger seat right in the middle at the back where the upright meets the bottom, there was a hard lump which pressing it appeared to be about 1/2 " high, I tried my own seat and found an identical lump although not as bad, this lump is in the exact position as the sore patch on my backside. My wife has no problem with her seat as she sits further forward and I sit further back.

I called in my Skoda dealer and a meachanic examined it saying he had never seen the fault before, I made an appointment to take the car in last week and was told the seats would have to be stripped down to see what was causing the problem.

The car went in and I expected to pick the car up later that day but the Service Manager rang and told me this was completely new to them and they would have to have the Skoda rep in for him to examine it and advise what to do. The following day the Skoda rep examined the car and suggested that some padding might solve the problem but the service manager wasn't happy putting padding near the heating elements, that was a non starter. The following day the service manager contacted Skoda and they suggested changing the seats and swapping them from another car to replace mine, he was shocked to discover that all the Fabia heated seats he had were all like mine.

They put my seats back and told me that a big investigation was going to take place and a report had been sent to Skoda which might take 2-3 weeks to sort out.

I am off on holiday so hopefully something will be sorted when I get back.

On examining Fabia's with no heated seats there is no lump so presumably it must be the heating setup that is causing my problem, at the moment I have a strip of bubble wrap where the bump is and this is doing the job of cushioning my backside.

Sorry about the long message but I would be interested if anyone else has the same problem, I can't see any mention though in the messages.

Will everyone with heated seats check theirs to see if they have the same problem without even realising it
