watching dvd on PC

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I have just finished transfering all my old ( 1978 - 1993 ) rally vhs

tapes to the hard drive of my samsung DVD player / recorder and have

now copied them to dvd discs ( 20 ) ....... but when I watch them on

my computer they replay by chapter so I have to double click each

chapter as I watch otherwise it just stops ( pauses ) is there anyway

I can change settings in windows media player to play non stop

from chapter 1 to the end ....they play no problem on a dvd player

and have been finalised

thanks in advance to any replies

Not a big WMP fan but have you tried Power DVD or VLC?

Nero Showtime is good for this as it can "open" media files as a 'dvd' - likewise PowerDVD has a similar facility.

might be something to do with the way the DVD recorder has recorded the video , i'm ssuming it made its own chapters up ? or did you do it manually when it was recorded from the HD

Try 'Power DVD' Its superb

Try 'Power DVD' Its superb

Hi thanks for the suggestions everybody

will give them a go .......

the programmes are on the dvd hard drive

so it creates the chapters automatically

the funny thing is if I dont finalise the disc

then it plays straight through on the computer

but then I would think it may not play on some

dvd players ....... well I guess the bottom line is

just play the dvd`s on dvd players and not computers

unless you click each chapter

can't you get the DVD recorder to record it without chapters ?

I think its set in the copying procedure of the samsung dvd machine....

all you do is choose from a menu " copy " insert a blank disc ...

and it copies from the dvd player hard drive to the disc......

thanks for your imput

Chapters are OK, it's the WiMP that can't handle them. I'd recommend VLC (Video Lan Client) since it bypasses all annoying restrictions on the discs (no more "can't fast forward" ads!)
