After all the nightmares with a fixed towbar and my reverse parking sensors (see thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/ask-tech/fixed-towbar-reverse-parking-sensors/57764/), I have now had a removable fitted.

Looks quite nice I thought? The plastic cover is fixed with two grommets and adds a nice touch.

A colleague of mine is having a tow bar fitted to an Elegance but not the genuine Skoda jobbie.

I have warned him about the pitfalls but we'll see what happens.

Tell your mate its not worth the risk.

Hm I've tried that but he's not willing to pay the better part of £600 or whatever for a genuine tow bar.

I had a real problem in fixing my removable towbar. The machanism is fairly simple so I'm sure I did right. It simply doesn't fit. I will take it the diler since it's alredy time for the first service and make them install it.

I was suprised to see such a negligence in production for such a siple mechanic part as towbar.

I have had a genuine VAG bar fitted to my Octavia saloon by the dealer,no problems at all with it,I used to fit my own from a well known supplier but too much like hard work now,I would rather pay the extra and have it done,as the electrics are not as straight forward now as they used to be,
