What does Maxidot do?

Featured Replies

Hi, am thinking of buying an Octy, I've seen Maxidot as an option in brochure, and a number of references in this forum, but what does it do that is useful over and above the standard Trip Computer?

Nothing you can't live without, but for the £90 or so its well worth it, makes the dash look better, easier to read the info, think it allows access to extra info and to alter some peramiters eg speed warning. Not really bothered playing with it tho hth

Thanks postmanpat, it is as I suspected, presumably the door open warnings and parking sensor display don't need it fitted?

It is now £120 extra not £90 !

Even at the increased price, I think I would have it again, does make the dash look a lot nicer - plus dependant on some options fitted to the car it gives the ability to change parameters - i.e Coming home light function period and things like that.

Would still say it was worth it. The Parking sensors come up on the radio display. I think maxidot will be required for the little picture of the car showing which orafice is open (door boot hood) but have had no experiance of an octy without, I would think it will get a single light like the Fabia donating somethings open but not necasarily what.

I also hesitated with the maxiDOT decision when ordering the car. Didn't take it at first, but then changed my mind a couple of weeks later. As the car was factory order, it was still possible to add maxiDOT to the car.

Why did I take it then? It was once again a place for my heart to speak, the brain was just making excuses..

1) I looked at some pictures of cars with and without it. A more modern look with it. As I'm buying a new car that I'm hoping will serve me for a long time, I don't want it to look "last year" already when I get it.

2) With it you can change some settings in the car that would otherwise require a visit to the dealer. You're usually charged 0,5 - 1 hour's service work per such visit.

Best way to find out which one you want (I don't think you need maxiDOT) would be to go look at cars with and without maxiDOT. It's mostly about the appearance, plus some gadgety value.
