1.9TDI 100BHP Fabia Elegance Estate

Featured Replies

Hi guys

120 miles in the new Estate so far and guess what !!!!

I have a mild version of the dreaded STUTTER

Lumpy running on a light throttle from cold--- when warm there is a "snatch" when going from over run to drive, and worst of all ONLY 47mpg "combined".

It should be 56 mpg.

Come back Fabia VRS - all is forgiven.

The garage are going to look at it soon but I just wondered if I am the only sufferer in this respect.

Jopo:(

You've got this in the wrong forum. There is a thread already running about the stutter, have a search.

the miles per gallon will get better the miles you put on the engine , the engine is still "tight" until a few thousand miles

The known stutter problem only effects the 130bhp BLT engine and the cause I believe is now known. I would imagine yours has a different problem which needs identifiying.

I was getting about 53mpg out of my 100PD non-estate Fabia for the first 1500Miles quickly went into the low 60mpgs. I find our gearbox/clutch a little bauky/snatchy when cold which quickly goes after a mile or two.

With regard to the 'Stutter' I have one around 1750rpm when I'm backing off the power - most noticeable in 5th dropping from 60-50mph - I believe this is common - all I would recommend is adapting your driving style to minimise it or avoid light throttle while decelerating. To be honest I haven't actually noticed it for ages!

Having driven both the Vrs and PD100 are completely different cars to drive i.e. I always say that the Vrs feels like a petrol car (fast/high revving) and the PD100 is, obviously, from the old school of diesels - very rarely needing to be revved above 3000rpm and because of the long gear ratios makes it difficult to drive smoothly and quickly.
