Adaptation channels

Featured Replies

Have you seen the news from some of the tuning companies?

New software from Revo that works with VAG-COM serial cable to change some engine parameters.

You can not increase the boost but alter timing and fuel and it doesn't matter if you are stock or chipped.

Forgot to say that its free!

Sorry, maybe abit over your head. But for those who understand what can be done with this it's pretty exciting.

Revos program is called Lemmiwinks.exe and works for all, APR an GIAC got programms only for their chip customers.

I should have posted this in the performance forum.

The APR software is called V-Tune and will only oon V-Tune enabled code at the moment, we're currently running some beta testers in the US and will be looking for a few in the UK initially on the 1.8T models, later on on the new Diesel and Normaly Aspirated code we are now working on.

If all interested can send an email to [email protected] titled 'beta tester enquiry' including your username, the forums you're on (and other usernames if different), vehicle, model, year, ECU number(either from the ECU case, vag-com, dealer printout etc).

So I guess I should post you some pics and some descriptions of what it all does......!!!!

Idle Torque Offset

So basically, if I understand this right, it gives me the ability to detune my car.

Hot damn, where do I sign up? ;)

:D

........as well as tune!

As I say, I'm probably misunderstanding this, but as I see it, I can only set, say boost, to a maximum of 100% of that available as defined by the other tables. It's not a set level of boost eg 1.5 bar but a load rating. So if I have my car mapped by APR they will set the maximum "safe" parameters (probably "engine" max less a 15% safety margin). This software will then allow me to pick and choose but within those "safe" parameters, hence my "I can only detune it". After all, what's the point of getting anyone to map the car to less than its potential? Whoopee I can change the fuel ratio at idle. Yippee, I can change the cold start mixture ratio. Woopdeedoo, I can increase the maximum speed of my car (subject to it actually being able to overwrite any manufacturer's code) even though I currently hit the limiter in top.

Or is this a piece of software that you can tinker with but still remain within APR boundaries? If so it falls into the "lets play at being engine tuners" category. I assume it only works with APR tuned cars? Is it freeware (yeah, right) or do I have to pay for it (either a licence fee or paying for a base remap).

PLEASE NOTE: I am not attempting to be a troll with this (even though I'm probably succeeding) I am trying to get you to set out for other members what benefit this will have for them and their cars. I'd love to have a play with it on mine, but it won't work on mine. :( I am genuinely intersted, as this could solve a lot of people's "problems"

It's ok it's a difficult one to explain!

At the moment when we release this as a finished product it will be available free for anyone purchasing APR Direct Port Software.

Now not everyone is going to want to use it, most people just want the performance out the box and don't want to play, but there are those of us who want to play or are constantly changing the configuration of there car and are willing to do realtime datalogging, we are hopefully incorporating parts of APR ECU Explorer into future developments of V-Tune which will include datalogging of several channels realtime.

Now the 100% setting is actually what is probably best described as equvilent to 0 or current.

If you were to go to 101% you'll be adding 1% so +1 on the current setting and at 99% you'll be reducing 1% so -1 from current, make sense?

Now if you can currently hit your speed limit wouldn't it be nice to be able to remove that limit and find out where your speed limits really are?

On a private road of course! :D

Ah, so I can go to 110% :D Excellent, 11 on the volume, just the way I like it!

The only ways I can change my top speed are a) increase the rev limit from 7250 or change the top gear ratio as bouncing on the limiter is a pain (after 5 seconds it writes a code to the ECU of "Maximum engine revs exceeded, warranty void")

Thanks for the explanation.

Still all within your parameters though or have you got a cast-iron disclaimer? :D

We've set safe limits and primarily this is for those with extensive modifications or those that want to play, we do keep all the safety features but just give people a litlle scope within the window. If you're already on the rev limit in top gear then there's no gain for you there.
