Had the stream radio on listening to the golf in tesco car park. Switched on engine to drive off - loud bang thought a large bird had hit the car or something - then the radio wouldn't work nor the cd and there was a loud click click coming from the speakers. When turning engine off the click click continued for a few seconds and then stopped after a another loudish pop (via speakers).

Drove off home with the click click from the speakers. Stopped off at coop for some more shopping. 15 mins stop. Switched engine back on and radio/cd was working again.

No warning lights on instrument panel etc and other things seemed to be working ok.

Any ideas as to what's gone wrong? I'm loathe to take it to my nearest dealer 40miles away if its something intermittent and they turn round and say its fine unless its something that could be serious..

sounds like the radio itself to me. seeing as the stereo is now intergrated into the cars systems it would be worth getting it checked out as you wouldn't want it knackering the car.

Normal popping on older stream radios.

They are changed in warranty.

took it to a dealer

they said it was a known fault re an outstanding recall 91c5.

apparently letters are not being sent out but will be fixed either if customer approaches skoda for the fix or at the normal service interval.
