Featured Replies

HI ALL!!! THIS MAYBE A BIT EARLY BUT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT BUYING A NEW CAR NEXT APRIL ,I WOULD LOVE A NEW 06 PLATE VRS BUT I WILL ONLY HAVE 11,500, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE DEPRICIATION ON VARIOUS WEB SITES AND GOING OFF WHAT THEY SAY I WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD ONE NEXT YEAR, BUT YOU CAN NEVER BE CERTAIN ,ANY ADVICE ON WHERE TO GET A GOOD PART EX DEAL FOR MY 52 PLATE MINI COOPER WOULD BE APRICIATED AND ALSO ANY SKODA BUYING TIPS

CHEERS

NO NEED TO SHOUT.

Have you tried your local dealer? If not try it, if no joy you will probably be better off selling the Cooper and then having a look at online car prices from people like drive the deal.

Welcome aboard

D'ont think you have a cat in hells chance of getting a 12 month old oct 2 vRS for £11,500 unless you find one stolen recovered or that ilk. You would be able to get a new fabia vRS for that money which would still be an upgrade in speed and size over a std mini cooper.

Welcome to the site by the way, and hope you do get a skud you want.

Cheers Lummox ,i Have Been Tempted To Go Into My Local Dealer For A Chat To See What My Options Are, But I Now Think It Would Be Wise To Wait!!! As I Cannot Really Buy One Till April !!!! Good Things Comes To Those Who Wait Eh !!!!

If I Can,t Get A New Oct 2 Vrs I'll Settle For A 05 1.8 Vrs, So Near But Yet So Far !!!!

I would agree with the comment sell your own car first "if you can" you will almost certainly loose 1 grand if you trade in. Thats 1 grand that could be put toward a private buy. A private VRS will be hard to come by I think....

Hope you get one.

P.S. The Elegance has lots of kit and with the 17" alloys it handles pretty well too, might be worth getting a test drive.

cheers for the advice dudes!!! i think i'll just have to wait and see, and try and save some more pennies!!!!!

The depreciation on the minis is starting to bite, the sooner you make the change the better. I think I only got 11k for my low milage 53 Cooper S (Chili) when I part ex'd for my VRs (5k to change cars). With the new mini on the horizon the value of your cooper could really get hit in the next 6 months or so.

The Octavia VRs MkI or II would be a nice big increase in power and speed on the Cooper but you'll miss the go-kart handling of the Mini (I've had 2).

i think your right there, i love the mini but its just not big enough for my needs anymore , but unfortunatly i can't change my car till the end of march 07 i have also looked at getting a subaru sti but i don't like the rep they have and they also cost more to run, i think the octavia is much more refined and not as blinged up with more toys, and its more comfortable my mate has a sti and its very quick but it always feels like its going at mach 2 all the time

Compared to the mini the Octi is huge, there's loads more space up front, in the back and the boot is feckin' huge. The vRS feels a lot faster than the Cooper S but I find I miss the minis handling and gear box. On the plus side the softer suspension and lack of run flats on the vRS means your kidneys won't burst everytime you hit a speed bump.

I also looked at the WRX (running costs too high) and Ford Asbo (didn't 'feel' as fast as Octi or as well screwed together).
