OnBoardDiagnostics cable

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying VAG COM from OnBoardDiagnostics. As I understand it, they make their own cable but it's officially supported by Ross Tech, so activates the full version of VAG COM.

Has anyone tried one of these? Do they work well? I know that cheap ones from ebay are meant to be pretty useless, but do you have to get a genuine Ross Tech one to be safe, or is the OnBoardDiagnostics one as good?

One final thing. Am I right in thinking that I need VAG COM if I want to service the car myself, but keep it on variable servicing?

Thanks very much,

Alan

Yes, you need to use VAG-COM to maintain variable servicing.

OnBoardDiagnostics are an authorized reseller for Ross-Tech. You should have no problems using their product. They purchase licenses from Ross-Tech to make their cables work with VAG-COM. To my knowledge, we have no reports of problems with their products.
