Tighter than a ducks proverbial - Alpine hu in Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I've fitted my Alpine, but cannot for the life of me get it to fit flush - it sticks out 1-2 cm.

This is really beginnning to bug me, anyone any tips on where to stuff the extensive cabling??

I've got the ISO adaptor fitted, maybe if i knew which cables to switch/'adapt' i might have more room?????

Cheers,

Matt

I'm assuming you car is a MK I here.

Fitting into the VAG cars you need to swap the Red and yellow wires that go between the ISO and the Head unit.

Eg the permanant and switched live wires.

Also you don't want to put power to the arial as you may cook it and want to be a little careful about sending power out. Make sure that the voltage out to things like the ariel are not connected at all back to the car wireing loom.

HTH.

Yeah, I've just got round to fitting my Alpine and it was a pain in the ****. Tucked the DC adapter thing (for the pre-outs) to the right side, and the aerial bit to the left. I've tucked the ISO adapters behind the buttons above the H/U (theres a little ledge) and then just gave it a good shove. Should fit in the end. Getting the cage in place was the most difficult though.

I've had much fun fitting my old Alpine head unit into my Fabia, and even worse fitting my new JVC because of the amount of leads that has (it has the cabability for full 5:1). Bengie can be testimony to this, as he's helped me extensively with my ICE.

I tried removing the glovebox (most people seem to do that on here), which is easy, but didn't ever find that helped as I couldn't get round the support bracket for the centre console. :(

Easiest way of fitting I've now found is remove the air vents directly above your stereo. Very easy to do, gently slide a flat blade screw driver under the plastic and gently prise off. Then unclip the electrical connection to the hazard warning switch.

Once this is removed you can see where all the cables are being routed, and you can tuck them away.
