Engine noise.

Featured Replies

Have 21 month old 2.0TDI Elegance.

When you turn the engine off after driving, it sounds very strange indeed with a distinct loud rattle as the engine stops.

Strangely enough you don't hear it when the engine is started.

Just as a suggestion, it could be the baffles in the exhaust pipe - had this once on a diesel Renault and sounded like the engine was falling out.

Could be a flywheel noise, get it checked out.

Sounds just like the engine falling out!!

Already had the recall for the flywheel so ok there.

If it didn't do it before the flywheel fix and it does now i'd get it checked.

My fathers car just needed a new one at over £1k fitted with the clutch.

Just had 50k service and got noise checked out. Guess what..............

Car got to go in for 1week for gearbox to come out to investigate probably failing flywheel!!

Don't rely on recall checks.

Just thought I'd post and update.

Picked my car up yesterday - service manager told me dual mass flywheel shot and replaced along with clutch and clutch release bearing. Approx. cost of job

Noted you had the 50K service, if the warranty is 60K I would confirm to the stealer in writing what he has said & get him to acknowledge it, if it drags on over 60K you will need proof its been reported in case things are disputed

Don't know where I stand on that one as its a lease car - think I better ring the lease company.
