I have been looking all over and found so many contradicting statements on what oil to use. I'm confused!!! I have an Octavia 1.8t 4x4 re-mapped and on variable servicing.

I need to know wich oil to use.

I see that I should be using VW503.00 Spec oil. I also enquired at Opie Oils

They recomend a VW503.01 spec oil I'm soooo confused

I'm reasonably sure that a 1.8T on variable servicing should be using 503.00 or equivalent.

SLX LongLife II used to be the one (still is, at VAG dealers) but I believe the Castrol EDGE stuff is now available in Halfords.

Wherever you buy, just make sure you read the spec on the back of the container.

I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the simplistic answer is that 503.00 is for variable, and 503.01 is for fixed servicing.

When I serviced my vRS (on variable schedule), I went out and bought 503.00 (even though I had some leftover 503.01 in the shed from a previous car).
