Whine from transmission

Featured Replies

I've got a very quiet whine coming from the transmission when gently appling throttle. It's not there when you release the throttle (but stay in gear) or put the clutch in or put it in neutral. It's also not audible under heavy acceleration, but that might just be engine noise drowning it out.

I initially thought it was rpm linked, but now I'm not so sure and it might be speed related instead; it's most noticeable in 3rd and 4th gears at about 50mph.

The car is a Fabia 1.9tdi 5spd with 51k on the clock.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Thanks in advance. :)

As we were chatting about the other night rob, my bets on a gearbox oil change, some careful driving and a bit of praying :)

Yeah it is what we were chatting about, but I'm not convinced it's rpm related now so dunno if it might be something else!

turn the stereo up!! lol....

I remember when mine was spanking new and any rattle (although little and no one else heard it) or squeak I could hear did my head in !

Now I just Turn the stereo up !

None in mine. :D Must be the lowered suspension and extra bits of metal rattling from the back you can hear Jon!! ;)
