Fabia Fan access

Featured Replies

I seem to have sucked some leaves or other autumn debris into the interior fan and its now making an annoying ticking sound on positions 1 and 2.

Have taken the pollen filter out but this did not fix the problem. Has anyone found an easy way to access the fan itself which I believe comes before the pollen filter. If I would work out how to get the scuttle cover off I feel sure I could then gain access to the fan by removing its external cover however removing the scuttle grill seems rather difficult to a novice.

Any pointers gratefully received.

The fan comes out after the glovebox is removed.

Thx, now I'll show just what a novice at taking a Fabia to bits I am, how do I take the glovebox out ?

One torx bolt down in the bottom right (hidden a bit) one on the left (again hidden) and three inside the lip of the glovebox, at the top, when you take down the handle. Then carefully lower a bit and disconnect the power to the light and the aircon rubber pipe. Now wondering if there's two bolts on the left side now....? Hmmm - Torx T20 fitting I believe.

Fan comes apart with a similar amount of fiddling with a torx driver, from memory. :) Around 6 of the beggars.

Many thanks to Devonutopia and Lummox, as described five t-20 torx screws and unclip the dash side pannel and off came the glovebox, disconnected the fan cable to the left of the unit and unscrewed another five brass plated t-15 torx screws around the fan and out came the fan. The offending oak leaf dropped out onto the passenger foot mat. All went back easily and the silence of the fan is golden once more, great !
