Does anyone know whats involved in turning off the passenger airbag on a 02 Fabia 1.4 Comfort?

the manual says this must be done by a dealer - any idea on cost?

Also is it possible to have a switch installed?

Switch cant be retrofitted.

Dealer can supply and fit a de activation kit, think it was about £100 last time I did one.

lummox, can this be retrofitted without insurance mither? i was pretty convinced (by talking to sylks macclesfield!) that it couldn't be - what do you reckon?

I cant see how it could be retrofitted anyhow.

You would need the switch, wiring, control unit, display and then you would need to be sure that it would all work as it should. Not exactly something you can test unlike cruise control.
