I've done the common ones...have a look at my sig. (except the brakes...quite a lot of people have upgraded to bigger 312mm front brakes)

forget about dump valve. :)

Aside from the mods in Pete's sig, you can upgrade the turbo for serious oomph! ;)

What would be an approx. bhp with new turbo?

Get your suspension sorted first (Eibach springs & Jabba ARB) then you could remap but remember that if you go for over 180bhp then you takes your chances on the clutch.

Do a search on the subject as there's loads of info. :)

To get the most out of a remap and air intake mods, I can recommend the Milltek full exhaust with sports cat - although as expected it will put a dent in the fuel consumption. Its not a noisy exhaust, but gives a nicer sound that the standard and looks the business too.

From what I've heard - a dump valve...if it could be fitted would be of no use what so ever on a diesel engine.

If your looking for new tyres soon, theres plenty of recommendations on here of the good ones, I prefer Goodyear Eagle F1s.

You could also think about inside the car - some people have had it re-upholstered with leather (which also gets around the easily marked and bobbled material on the seats).

In the centre console, its possible to get a slide out drawer (from the dealer - they are fitted standard to the elegance Fabia) to replace the little hole that comes standard, or you might want to put an all singing all dancing double-DIN, GPS, DVD, touch screen whatsit ma bobber in there.

If you go for upgrading the front brakes to 312mm discs - theres an article on here somewhere. The 312mm brakes are the same as goes on the Audi TT, Octavia vRS (mk1) and the V6 Golfs...amongst others, so look around scrap yards for a good deal. If you want the new brakes to match the original skoda green caliper colour - grab a tin of smooth green hammerite paint, its almost a perfect match and does a fine job.

If its just speed your after then a custom remap, FMIC, hybrid turbo will make an incredible difference - some Fabias have been modified up to 215bhp and beyond with silly amounts of torque, but of course - the standard clutch can't really handle it, so will likely also need uprated if you go down that route.

  • 1 month later...

I used to have a dump valve fitted to my fabia Vrs, i think it made it run slower and ran less smooth.

The standard turbo doesnt need a pressure release as its a variable Vain Turbo. Meaning the vains move to how much air flow goes through it,making it work well. (Plus at the cost of 250ish it soon gets boring hearing the WOOSHhhhh)

Anyone correct me if iam wrong.

But the point is the dump valve is expensive and not needed.
