Bump Stops!

Featured Replies

I've been reading all the thread's on these, and heard of all the mentioning about reducing their size/cutting them down etc.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can give me detailed advice on how to cut them down, and where to cut etc.

Also, will all 4 bump stops need to be cut down?

Thanks

Aaron

there is one thread that does say exactly how much to cut them down and where to cut them , but to honest ,my VRS is on Eibachs ,25mm drop ,and i've never had a problem with the knocking noise some people on the forum say they have had , i've been to the "Ring" , 2 people and car loaded with spare wheels ,bags etc , no obvious noises experienced

I've read that thread. But, i cannot understand the use of ' Araldite Rapid ' to glue them back together. This just really puzzles me!

from what i understand is that you cut the bump stops down in such a way that when you glue the 2 halves back together they still resemble a bump stop , instead of just hacking the end off and leaving a rough , none tapered end. HTH

When changing suspension springs on any car. Would this be done?

i would imagine if you were going really low , with any car you would require the bump stops chopping but for a 25mm drop on the Fabia , IMHO its not required , i will now prepare myself to be flamed by the people that have chopped theirs .

Its only really required if your also fitting the shorter dampers aswell.

Mine hits the front bumpstops all the time on uneven country roads - and I chopped them down  The back ones didnt need doing though, well I chose not to cut them and ive never felt the back end bottom out

I had a go at replacing my rear bump stops for chopped ones today but I could not loosen the bottom bolt holding the damper it was stuck solid. Anyone any ideas as it is a bit of a pain to get any leverage on and I didnt fancy the chances of the car falliing of the axle stand.
