Interview recording a la Radio 4

Featured Replies

I've been tasked with recording some one-on-one interviews as part of development of a new course to be delivered in the Gmabling Industry.

Sounds quite an interesting project, with various headline figures coming along to have their 15-20mins of fame.

Toyed with the idea of videoing, but the overheads in doing that to the required standard are prohibitive, especially as i now find out that the Project leader has spent half of the 22K budget in five days on paying a consultant to lead and produce content!

So i've opted to do radio styler interviews, over which we can just do our own filming or attach presentations to.

Obviously, hooking up a laptop and some consumer grade mics is the cheapest option, but having done this before, you pick up way too much extraneous noise and the results are less than professional quality.

I've settled onL

Sennheiser EW112/122 Radio receiver with bodypack transmitters and clip-on mics

then to record

Korg D1200 Mk2 Recorder

or

Tascam DP-01FX

Anyone got any thoughts or professional feedback on this kit, or alternative suggestions to do the same job to a professional quality?

Hey Amanda....

WEll i got the Tascam DP-01, as it was cheaper.

It works pretty well, if a tad cumbersome to set-up and then convert it after to export from the unit.

For quicker and less demanding apps, I've managed to squeeze a Edirol R-09 digital field mic - suprisingly good pickup range and records in mp3 natively.

Out of interest, what kit do you use?
