However it should be noted that these days there is only so far they can go. The company that told you the e-mail address should also have logged the IP address that the post request was sent from which placed the order. (Sorry putting two and two together here). This IP address will then be traceable to the persons PC or at least to their ISP and the account.

You should get ther people to either tell you IP (They will probably hide behind the Data Protection Act) or tell them to hold onto it as you will be involving the police, should you wish to do so.

we have got the police involved but i would like to know who did this
