a few questions - wheels, remap etc..

Featured Replies

Hi, Im thinking of having my Superb comfort 1.9 remaped, getting some 18" wheels (A8 style) and possibly even lowering / tightening up the suspension (perhaps).

I believe I have 16" wheels (standard) on there at the moment, If I stick on some 18" wheels, wont that screw up the reading of the spedo etc?

If I get a remap (Im thinking of a custom Jabba) will that cause any probs with reliability? (any opinions or experience here)

I may want to tighten up the suspension a bit, what ts the best way to do this?

Can I replace the headlights with the Xennon bulbs in the mudel above?

Does anyone know what the 0-60 or standing 1/4 of a Jabba or similarly tuned 1.9 Superb is?

Many thanks,

Chris.

Think there might be a company in the Pompi area to help with remaps.

Have a look here (can highly recommend), there will be a few from the forum popping down too

Good choice of car, I used to have a blue one of those, before I went for the 2.0 TDI.

Where did you get yours by the way? - reason for asking is that I was told that my old one was bought by someone in Porstmouth.

You can do 18's quite easily, as long as you keep the same overall radius of the wheel, it should not mess up your speedo reading.

Baker21 has done the xenon thing to his lights, not sure who else has done this.

Also, welcome to the site...

Got my one from Bognor Motors. Is Nightfire blue - reg = KP55... Is a fantsatic car. I do a couple of long trips most weeks and the Superb is a fantastic mile eater. I purchased it in July (I think). At the time, I looked at new BMW 3 series, Merc C class, Audi A4 and Passat. Out of those, it was the Passat that I liked the most, then the BMW (but was nothing like as nice as the VW), then the A4, and then the Merc. Had I also looked at a Lada or Trabant, I suspect the Merc would still heve been last - horrible, horrible car - terrible quality, felt cheap. I remembered looking at a Superb a few years ago, so went to have a look at a new one at a local dealer. That was it, mind made up. Got my one 7 months old for half the price of the BMW!

Sounds like you got a good deal there then. My workmate has a Mercedes C Class, and he raves about it, his isnt too bad, but I have heard some bad things about the Mercedes quality of late.

Can't comment on remap's but others on the forum can.

18" wheels are no problems with no rubbing etc, I have 19" and I have pretty much 'decked' the Superb and I have no issues. Fluffy on this forum has 19" A8's with a similar suspension set up and he also has no problems.

As for upgrading the headlamps, this is not a 'bulb' replacement, it is a complete headlamp replacement but if you have the contacts and connections then this can be done at a low cost - I work for the company (Hella) that make these headlamps.
