Random hot air?

Featured Replies

The air from my air vents has a habit of going really hot all of a sudden on its own.

To cure it I either have to turn the heat kn0b all the way to hot then to cold or turn the a/c on and off.

Any ideas as what could be wrong with it?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the fabled heater problem! If you know someone with VAG-COM you can reset the flap motors, but failing that it's a new unit I think....

Chris

yeah mine does it too, it's well strange when you got the air con on full blast and you suddenly get a blast of warm air in your face!

This is a problem with the blower motor actuators behind the dash operating the flaps for hot/cold air, where the air is directed to and if its recirc/outside air. VAG have said this is a problem with condensation behind the dash due to temperature changes effecting the motors. Sometimes resetting them, as per ScoobyChris's comment, works but I had to get mine replaced, luckily under warranty, which is normally a dash out job.

iirc the motors (there's three of them) were about

I find mine will blow cold air for just a second, when I'm going around a right hand bend in very cold weather. Always gets me confused, then it warms up again when going straight. A quite funny problem that I've learned to live with. :)

So thats £105 plus fitting of 3-4 hours (i get my local vw dealer to do labour at £25 a hour so im talking £200 :S

Mine does that also (brand new) as does my mates mk4 golf gti and another friends seat cupra R. Some sort of VAG issue itseems.

mine used to do this. it hasnt for a while but it was during the winter last year all of a sudden i'd have to drive with the windows wide open! best thing to do is turn it off and then leave it for a bit then turn it back on

Do you think if i send a letter to skoda they might be able to help with this problem, as it is very common and a design flaw, im a student and hardly have enough money to run the car as it is!

Mine does it as well.

I have never seen it as a fault, just the car having a hot flush or something.
