VVT

Featured Replies

I'm having a bit of a blonde moment now. I know what VVT stands for but how does it work? Is it like the Honda VTEC or is it a throttle position based malarky?

If its the Honda-styleee type of variable valving, whats the kickin point in RPM terms. Assume its like the new i-VTEC, rather than the old type which had the subtlety of a smack in the mouth with a wet fish!

Answers please.

:D

I'm pretty sure that the VVT on the 1.8T engine is an emissions thing -it increases the camshaft overlap when the engine is cold. I did find some info on a website somewhere (might've been on the Vortex?) but I can't track it down now. So. nothing like Honda's VTEC, which turns a mild-mannered saloon into a turbo nutter *******. (without the turbo...)
