Whaddya reckon?

Featured Replies

I'm toying with the idea of having the standard wheels on my Octy resprayed. I've done a very amateur photoshop to show what I'm thinking. I'd appreciate your honest opinions - on the wheels, not my ability to use photoshop.

Cheers.

Bengie's Octavia has Golf wheels on it that are painted in a similar fashion. I think it looks very nice and would make the car look better with slightly dusty wheels (because they'd still look clean)

hmmm not my cup of tea, but it's only personal opinion, might look good in an anthracite colour opposed to black?

I had thought of the anthracite colour, but then the whole effect including the black of the car is a bit sombre. I actually got the idea from Pimp My Ride UK this week. :o They put some wheels with a similar effect on a Suzuki Swift! I'm not into bling at all, but thought they looked a bit different. I want to keep the original alloys as I'm perfectly happy with the ride and the insurance.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

I really like that tbh, makes the wheels "look" bigger as well.

That's what I reckon. Also, as daft as it sounds, when the tyres are blacked using a shining product, they look bigger aswell. It also must be something to do with the colour of the car, so much black maybe?

Sorry I just re-read what you said. My following post must have sounded a bit wierd. You meant spray the inserts anthracite not the whole wheel. Yes, that's another option too, but second to the black. Sorry for misreading your original post.:o

It looks kind of different, but I would go with anthracite. To me black just looks like a dirty wheel, especially with just the inserts painted as those are what go black first from brake dust.

Yep, a few other people have said anthracite. I must have got carried away when watching Pimp My Ride. I'd had one beer too, so maybe all common sense went out of the window?

One other thing is how to get them done? It's my only form of transport and can't be taken off the road really. My other thought was to buy another set from somwhere and have them done at my leisure. Then when I need new tyres on, swap them round. The only problem is where to get a set of the same wheels in good nick?

Also, I went a bit mad on the beer last night and after one bottle of Bombardier, I did another picture to convince you all that Black is best.

you know what the longer i look at them the more i like them. they are deffinately growing on me.

if you could come to some sort of arrangement witht the person that painting them for you, you could always swap one for the spare wheel, get it painted. put that back on in the original place and then put hte spare on a differnt corner. and do the same when it comes back. that way you keep your current tyres on the car as to painting the spare and actually using it on the car. yeah ok it wil look odd for a couple of weeks while they are getting painted and swapped about but you get to keep the car on the road which was one of your problems. obviously if you get a flat then your boloxed without a spare but its got to be worth trying if you want to get them painted.

hope that helps ya

I hadn't thought of that, I suppose it could work. They do have to remove the tyre don't they? Stupid question I know, but I have been known to ask them from Time to time.

I like that! Makes em look huge!

i like the dark inner sections but would need to see a wheel close up pic with black and anthracite to make my mind up. i thought about doing something with mine until i put it up for sale.

Yep, like that a lot.

yep, i have the VW santa monica alloys on mine that have a polished fron with anthrasite inners which looks nice imho, anthrasite would look better than black :)

some companies do a 1 day service for a slight premium where they take your whole car and leave it up on a ramp and do all 4 wheels in one hit then put it all back together by the end of the day :)

here's mine.

Looks good Bengie. I'd have to find a company near me in Scarborough, it's not exactly close to anywhere really. I do like the idea of a one hit wonder day, all sorted in one go.

Just out of interest, where did you get your wheels from?

bought through this here forum :)
