Update On Turbo Cutting Out

Featured Replies

Hi guys some of you may remember me mentioning my turbo going into limp mode the other week. The Furby has been remapped but has no performance exhaust or fmic (yet ;))

When I got home a few days later I discovered that the oil was around 1/4 full (some may say 1/4 empty lol) on the dipstick so i topped it up with the oil from the dealer. Since then I've tried top speed runs (not on the public highway) and the speedo reads 140mph and gps reads 132, however the turbo doesn't seem to be cutting out. The car has been to the dealer and I informed them what was happening. They checked for any fault codes etc and said they couldn't find anything so hopefully the turbo and actuators etc are all ok.

The only difference I can see is that the first time I was doing 132 over a slightly longer distance but other than that it has been fine *touch wood*. Maybe people experiencing similar problems should check their oil? Bear in mind the car was serviced at 7000 miles and now it has done 14000 I'm surprised to see all that oil disappear. What happens to it? My clio never used to use a drop?

Got a Milltek full system including high flow cat on the cards on Monday courtesy of a certain chimpanzee on here  . Am hoping *praying* that the turbo doesn't cut out due to this but if it does then a FMIC is planned for January time anyway :D

My Beeza used to cut out due to overboosting at high revs...

I got the map tweaked and it was fine...

Then in the summer it went into limp mode twice because of 90degree+ intake temps...

But now with the FMIC its not done it since.

Keep an eye on that oil consumption - mine used about 1 liter of it when it was being run in, it doesn't use any between services now and I do a fair bit of paced motorway cruising too ;)
