Sound card?

Featured Replies

As I posted a while ago, my internet phone doesn't work on this computer (line in) but the speaker works fine. I tried a normal PC mic as well today and that doesn't register a blip. My question is would a USB internet phone's sound signals go through the sound card? If they do would I be right in thinking I've got a knackered sound card, hence the total absence of line in responsiveness?

Thanks,

A USB phone acts as another sound card so should have nothing to do with your existing sound card.

However, it's worth checking that your internal sound card is the "chosen one" because some USB phones end up being the default sound device ;)

I've had it with my internet phone setup (a USB to telco box so I use my house DECT phones as a skype phone). Once installed, I couldn't get any sound anymore  Picked up the phone and could hear quake 4 explosions blurting out whilst I was playing on the PC

Thanks,

worth giving it a try with the firewall off!!!

After speaking to my dad this is the concusion we can come up with what it could be.

Well obviously could be a load of other things, but every problem i seem to come up with, the firewall is the problem.

Hope this helps.
