Gearbox oil check/top up bolt.

Featured Replies

Has anyone any idea whereabouts on the gearbox the oil level check/replensiment allam-key bolt is ?

Do I need to remove the airbox or the battery to get to it. It is on the right side as you look at it from the front, from what I remeber, but do you know if its towards the back or closer to front of engine bay ?

Cheers.

I wanting to put a gear protecting friction reducing additive in, is why im asking. taaaaa

when you are facing the car, it's on the right hand side, it's easier to get to it from underneath.....

i'm not sure about the vrs model, but on my 2.0 model it's just above the left hand drive shaft for the filler plug, and the drain plug is on the bottom(for obvious reasons!) when i did mine i had the left hand drive shaft out becuase i was changing the clutch, so it made access far easier

FabiaVRS gearbox oil top up plug is on the the front of the casing ,accessed from underneath , it is a medium grey colour and round in shape , you will require a special socket to remove it , the tool is a 12 point spline type but with an anti tamper hole up the middle .

i know Snap-on do the socket but i found it was too big to get in due the closeness of the radiator cooling fan , so i gave it back to the dealer

TEFLONTOM just a quick question.

How do you find the 2.0 Fabia ? its the same engine as the Mk4 golf 2.0gti. I know its a 8v but does it have good top end ? Im considering getting a petrol early fabia to strip out for a weekend car in a year or so, and im caught between the 2.0 8v and the 1.4 16v.

in my opinion the 2.0 fabia is a bag of cack!

it is the same same engine as fitted to the mk4 golf (8v), i think a few choice modifications could transform this car totally, for example it's massively overgeared to make it quieter on motorways, a few quid spent here would make it a joy to drive. the power tails off over about 5.5k revs too, it needs a slightly warmer cam in my opinion

the 2.0 fabia does handle very well though, it's better than a vrs for handling imho, it's not understeer happy like the vrs fabia
