Life of Octy vRS brake pads ?

Featured Replies

Got my warped brake discs changed free of charge under warranty two weeks ago at 24,000 miles, but Skoda UK have refused to cover the cost of replacement brake pads, claiming that at around 25,000 miles they are due for replacement anyway.

What's the general consensus on how long brake pads should last in an Octy vRS (assuming no track days) ?

I might still argue the case that it was the warped discs that caused the pads to wear out prematurely.

Not really sure mate, mine are still ok after 27k although the pedal is travelling a bit further these days, which may suggest they are wearing a bit. Still stop ok though.

Don't know about the vRS, had my one for 6 days just :). However I got 80K miles on my old Felicia estate with out having to change any brake parts. I was amazed at every service to be told that they are still ok.

I got 60K miles out of the pads in my Felicia hatch.

45k and counting. Probably need them replaced before 50k though.

I have around 2/3,mm remaining pad material on my 03 Octy VRS, done nearly 39K and they and the discs are all but worn out now, just taken delivery of a shiny new set of DS2500's though!!

A year to the day since the last post on this thread :D:D:D

 OOPS, only read the 3rd Feb bit, greystuff didn't register the 2004 bit :silly:

42K miles, both pads and discs hardly worn.

Usually pads are due way before 40k service, whats wrong with you lot of grandads?

:finger: motorway work makes a big difference. Only boys need brakes....grandads can make a car handle! :D

Upto 47k now on the original pads including nearly 100 ring laps.

Lots of mway miles again!!!!

I've done 47k miles in the last 11 months.

I'm on my second set of front pads and my second set of rears. Also on my second set of discs all round.

1k miles, swapped standard pads to DS2500s all round

28k swapped rear pads back to standard as the ds2500s had disappeared and I'd got metal to metal contact.

32k, changed discs (worn) and pads all round (removed the standard ones and kept them safe for later use).

Loads of motorway miles for me too. Don't think 4 track days, a handling day and a Ring trip helped their cause to be honest :D
