Mod help / advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys I have got an Ibiza FR 130 TDi 5 door and I looking for some advice.

I'm just looking to find out what mods work well with each other and what each mods does to the cars handeling.

Mods.

1- Seat sport front strut brace

2- Jabba rear arb

3- Fabia front 21mm arb

4- 312mm TT brakes

5- 288mm brakes with TT style calipers

6- 15mm rear wheel spacers.

My thoughts.....

The brakes need doing so my plan was to do the TT 312mm conversion, but I've read that this can make the car a little light on the back, thus the 15mm spacers to try and give a little more rear stability, so Im wondering if just a capliper change on the orginal 288mm might be a better mod? Giving better than standard breaking but not making the car so light on the back?

As to the strut braces and arbs all thoughts welcome. My only thought was, the cost of a strut brace, Jabba rear arb and Fabia front arb would be about the same as some nice Koni FDs's. Would the shock upgrade be better?

I rate the suspension change highly as it stops the shifting of weight around (at least on the Fabia) which makes the stock brakes much more effective. I wouldn't bother with the upper strut brace but the rear ARB is well worth it. I'd imagine the front ARB is the same on the FR and the vRS?

Chris

the FR front roll bar is 19mm as per latest brochure , Cupra is 20mm , if the VRS one is 21mm it could make the handling better when fitted

i would leave the brakes as standard unless you are going to remap the car any time soon , then the extra braking will be of benefit

TT calipers on standard 288mm discs , wouldn't they just be to big for the disc ?

bump - anymore thoughts?

My fabia VRS has the re-map and the stanbdard brakes seem to do the trick, obviously if you have the money to spend get the upgrade but i dont think it is 100% necessary.

I have heard nothing but good things about the ARB, i am looking to get one of those shortly.

Apparently the Aibach Springs make a large difference also! but i guess all this depends on how agressivly you intend to drive your car?

the above 2 mods allowed me to carry a gear higher (4th instead of 3rd) through at least 3 corners at Oulton Park on a recent track day and not feel like it was going to fall off the track like it did before the mods :D HTH
