Hi Folks..has Anyone Had A Problem With Their Seat Belt Retracting Mechanism?.

Over The Last Few Weeks The Front Passenger Seat Belt Has Been Very Slow To Retract (wind Itself In)..today I Pulled It Fully Out To Check It,and It Won,t Go Back At All...warranty Runs Out In 2 Months..will Take It To The Dealer Tomorrow...hope Its Covered By The Warranty...also Of Course Its 1st M.o.t Will Be Due At The Same Time.

Annoying Thing Is The Passenger Seat Is Only Used About Once A Week,the Driving Seat Every Day Of The Week And The Bely On That Side Is Perfect.

I had the one in SWMBO's Fabia replaced for this reason about a month ago under warranty. It was the same belt that you are having problems with too strangely enough.

We also had the drivers side one in the company Passat here at work replaced, but that has been slow since new.

Did you pull the belt out between the eye and the base to see if the fault actually lies with the retractor mechanism ?

I have had this problem, particularly with the passenger side. I was thinking of replacing the whole unit but on closer inspection it seems that the problem lies with the belt not passing through the eye on the pillar properly. I have used a quick clean on the eye and a bit of WD40 - seems to have helped a lot.
