TDI fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Just got new Fabia tdi estate - fuel consumption is at least 10% to 15% less than the old one (average old 50mpg this new one 41mpg)

anyone any ideas...........will consumption increase after a few miles.

Would imagine with the engine new it needs a few miles to loosen up.

is your new one EU IV emmissions compliant?

as that seems to increase consumption slightly

yes EU IV compliant.

Would chipping help ?

No, get it past it's first service and you should see a 10% increase from new.

EEC4's only supposed to be about 10% worse than EEC3, but I'd reckon that the new engine's not run in yet. Also I know the consumption in my Octy kept improving for the first couple of months after I got it, as I got used to how best to drive it.

thanks for input ..............

My octy II 2.0tdi improved by at least 10% over the first 6 or 7k miles.

That should get you closer to what you expect

Hi,

Still getting rubbish fuel consumption from new Fabia Tdi.......anyone know why Skoda has revised fuel consumption figures in their literature from build date week 45...............for both 1.9tdi and vrs.

maybe all our stutters problems will be solved.

It'll be no consolation I'm sure, but the fuel consumption in mine has taken a hit over the last couple of months. I'm suspecting colder weather meaning the climate is working harder, and winter diesel.

im comparing to the Tdi i just px.............which did 55 mpg all its life.....maybe slight dip in winter but not a great drop
