Just looking around...maybe thinking of buying an Octy

Featured Replies

Hello all!!

Just joined. Been on the whole forum thing for a while but just new to the car forum thing.

I have owned two cars all my life ('04 Vauxhall Corsa Energy and my current '55 Hyundai Coupe 1.6S) but have been driving since I was 18 (had access to my mother's VW Polo and my family have had a history with VAG cars)

I bought my car in Feb this year and I love it, its a real head turner and despite it only being a 1.6, it does all I want from it.

But the reason why I am looking around is because of my daily commute to work and the like. Since I bought the car (brand new Pre Reg with 20 miles) I have covered 13,000 miles since Feb and whilst if I do drive carefully I can get up to 450 miles to the one tank but sometimes I feel that I spend more time at the local Esso garage filling the thing up :(

Like the title says, I am just looking around and seeing what is out there. At the end of the day I might not change my car but it would be good to try and work out if I do need a more economical say diesel car.

The one that I do fancy is an Octy vRS TDI. Looks really nice and does have all the toys that you need right? Any other recommendations? How is the Fabia vRS?

Right time to work my way through all the threads and use the search button :D

Thanks,

Alex

Had a look at the Skoda Garage near my work (St Andrews in Glasgow) and spoke to one of the sales guys (they are going through some renovation work at the moment so all the cars are in the forecourt)

I had a look at the Octavia vRs and the Fabia vRS. The Fabia vRS is in my price range but in terms of boot space its a bit lacking over my current car and the Octy (need to transport my golf clubs safely and have them away from prying eyes)

Sat in an Octavia Elegance and it did feel very nice and well put together (reminded me a bit of my Dad's Passat with some of the trim and dash features) and the Octy is a bit like the Tardis, there is a lot more room inside than you think it does and its not too big a car.

They had a 56 plate Octavia vRS TDI in Racing Blue, 18" alloys and all the toys outside. Man, that is one sweet car. I love the blue colour on the Octavia and its does really make the car stand out.

Might be time to speak nicely to the Bank Manager......:D
