Flip keys

Featured Replies

I don't know if it's just the vRS that gets a flip key. If that's the case, this thread on SCN may be of interest:

I've got one spare that should work, if anyone fancies it :)

Hi Gaz - me again! ;)

Just thought I'd spread the word, in case anyone was interested. 75% of the threads must be about whether 433 or 434 will work on their car :D

I have a Flip key which has been cut for my comfort, it wont code with the car because it has a rolling code and my car dosnt (the buttons work tho!)

I dont have a spare key for my car, but does this mean, if i get one and stick the chip in the flip key and then try and code it, it should work?

I'd get a blank transponder for your flip key Stuart - fit that in, then get the dealer or auto electrician, or someone with the right kit, to code it to your car.

EDIT: think the dealer quoted price for the operation was IRO £80...

I sold a couple of old 2-button ones I picked up from a breakers. I couldn't find the frequency on the PCB inside the key, but they both sold for over £30 each :)

Some people are so desperate to get the flip keys... now if only they'd bought a Skoda in the first place ;)

Not sure where you'd actually get a transponder on its own Stuart - don't think you'd get them from a stealer without the key to go with it!

I'm pretty sure the key I've got has got a blank transponder in it, so if I manage to get it out in one piece, when I come to swap mine round, I'll give you a shout.

Steve

It's proving stubborn my one, as I need to take it apart to swap the transponders. Can I get the damn thing apart?! My fingers are numb

I've looked up as many guides as I can find, and the only bit of advice is to pull really hard. Will keep trying....

Okay guys,

I've just done the operation of switching my non-flip keys into flip keys for my new remote locking (which doens't work yet)!

Basically you have to cut around the transponder. Unlike VW's the Skoda transponder has a glass outer (VW=plastic), therefore you have to be very careful during removal. If you want photos of mine just ask and I'll take some internals. Furthermore, I've attached a PDF guide for the above. Hopefully it will help :)
