xbox hd-dvd drive. Where can I buy one?

Featured Replies

I'm after one. Now that I've been given some movies on HD-DVD, I need the darn drive.

Anyone know somewhere which has them in stock at sensible prices?

I know I'm asking at the wrong time of year

did not think they were out yet?

Roo, which cave have you been hibernating in for the last month or two???

Yes they are out, but everywhere I've been / searched is out of stock surprise surprise. It's like trying to get a Wii (and not a PS3 ;))

I only found out Leroy Rosinior had been sacked as Brentford manager yesterday, and it happened in November.

The 360 drive is like gold dust. At the moment your only real choice to be sure of getting one is to import from the USA. They do crop up at stores here sometimes though, I was after one to. The problem is that its chasing a tale as so many people are after them.

In the end I bit the bullet and bought a dedictated HD-DVD player, the Toshiba HD-E1 from my local Comet store. Yes it costs a lot more than the 360 addon at around £450 but it does a lot more. Really impressed with HD-DVD, I got Harry Potter and Apollo 13 from HMV at The Galleria Hatfield. I will buy the rest online as its about £10 each disk doing it that way. Watching a normal DVD after a HD-DVD is like going back from DVD to VHS.

Littlewoods online had them 'instock' when I checked yesterday (28/12/06).. BUT.. as we all know Littlewoods Online are a 'credit based' store so its more expensive than regular shops. £159.99 + delivery will get you one. Me, I'm happy to wait until they are back in stock at proper shops in the next month or so..

the hddvd drive is brilliant. i now feel i have to buy as many hddvds as i can get my hands on
