cambelt change required.

Featured Replies

now that my car has just turned 4 years old and has done 54k i think it is time that i had the cambelt replaced so can somebody in the know please tell me the best place to get the cambelt kit from and i suppose i had better replace the water pump at the same time.

part numbers would be great if someone knows them and i take it that i need to replace the water pump for a metal impellor jobby.does the cambelt kit come with all the tensioners or is that more parts that i need to buy seperately.

is it cheaper to get seat or vw parts or is it best to stick with skoda.

thanks.

I got a cambelt kit (including belt, tension adjuster pulley assembly and idler pulley) and metal impellor water pump from GSF - good quality and good price.

was looking at gsf myself but found all the codes a little complicated:O

did all the parts come with the cambelt kit or were there any parts that needed to be bought seperately.probably best to give them a bell i suppose but i always worry about some muppet trainee sending me parts for the wrong model:rolleyes:

anyone know the actual part numbers for the vrs cambelt kit and water pump from gsf.

GSF Parts that I used for 2002 vRS Octy, taken from my invoice:

Cambelt kit - 12986 (equivalent 06A 198 119B) £47.50 +vat

Water pump - 17062 (equivalent 06A 121 011TX) £21.50 +vat

Nothing else needed, belt kit included belt+big tensioner pulley+small idler pulley+bolts for pulleys. Waterpump includes o-ring seal.
