Next service choice, and even a cambelt!

Featured Replies

Car was purchased by first owner 06/08/03 on a variable service.

18/08/04 at 14,938 miles , had a service with the next inspection being logged as 18/08/06.

I purchased the car on the 13/03/06 from a main dealer and it had a service before, at which point they changed the servicing over to a fixed one ( without asking but I only do around 6k miles a year so it was going to be changed anyhow ).

I changed the oil and filter a couple of weeks back to a better quality as I wasn't too happy with the garage and since the car had been remapped six months before I though it was time.

Now the next service is at 46,671 or 13/03/07, the car has 41,000 miles on the clock and I was wondering if it might be better to leave the car until it's fourth birthday in August and then get the full 40k and the cambelt/water pump done r would it be advisable to get the 40k service done in a couple of months, and then get the cambelt done in Aug alone? ( Don't fancy the

I guess its upto, mine was 5 years old and I went to Skoda for the full cambelt kit and waterpump work. It wasnt too wallet denting at £280 all in from a Skoda Dealer (Alex Lawrie who were very good).

Have the service done (you mention the car being re-mapped, so extra servicing will help prolong the life of an overstressed engine being re-mapped) then have you cambelt done seperatly anyway, which will involve checking the engine ove again anyway so u'll kind of get two services for the price of one.
